Your reconfigured or repaired PC...
Thank you for choosing clickmarlow.co.uk for the repair or upgrade of your PC or laptop. Unless otherwise specifically asked for, it will have been configured in a very sparsely fashion to ensure that the plethora of adware and special offers from the manufacturer and third party sellers have been removed from the system.
BIOS & Drivers
The BIOS will have been upgraded to the latest version available from the manufacturer's support resources. This means that any faults that existed before will have been overcome. You system will be running at optimum performance.
All the drivers for the machine will have been loaded to the latest versions. In some instances, especially with older PCs and laptops, drivers will not have been available for Windows 10 and this will show in the Device Manager. Usually this will not affect the main functionality of the machine so can be ignored. I will have advised you verbally anyway of any anomally.
Connecting to the internet
When you get home you will need to connect to the internet. Either connect an ethernet cable from the router to the ethernet port for fastest access or connect via wifi in the following way. Click the "world" icon on the right hand side of the taskbar and select your wifi network. Enter the pass code which will be written on the router on the base or on a removable tab. Open your Google Chrome browser and check at fast.com that you have a good connection speed. Modern fibre-optic broadband contracts will rarely have speeds of less than 20Mb/s.
Preloaded Software
Unless previously verbally arranged there will be a bare minimum of software loaded to ensure the system operates at maximum performance. The browser Google Chrome will have been loaded, set as the default browser, and the machine's manufacturer's support page bookmarked for easy reference. An ad blocker extension will have been added to Chrome to reduce the number of adverts on various site. You can find out more details here and maybe subscribe to the useful software. Microsoft Edge will have been removed (probably to appear again on the next Windows update).
Avira antivirus software may have been loaded offering the most comprehensive cover in a free package. You will get occasional prompts to upgrade but dismiss this dialog box by clicking the small "maybe later" link. Do not load any of the performance enhancing features of the software as they don't need to run all the time.

There is a lot of very professional software which is compatible with most Microsoft software products.They save you huge amounts of money so read the licence agreement which may suggest you to make a contribution to the project or author.
