My journey with technology started with an Acorn Electron. It was simple, responsive, and did exactly what you told it to. Ever since, I’ve worked with tech through every generation - and while I still love the potential of it all, I’m not happy with where we’ve ended up.
Today’s machines are loaded with ads, pop-ups, fake speed tools, and constant pressure to upgrade. Many of my clients feel overwhelmed - and it’s not their fault. It’s become harder than ever to know who to trust or what’s necessary.
I run Click Marlow to offer something better. I fix what’s broken, remove what’s not needed, and help people hang on to working tech for as long as they want to. I support Windows and Linux systems, including clean alternatives like Windows 10 LTSC and Linux Mint. If something’s fixable, I’ll tell you. If not, I’ll help you find the simplest way forward — without spending more than you need to.
I believe in tech that respects its users - and I’ve built my service around that idea.
When a computer slows down or fails, the default advice is often to replace it. In many cases, that simply isn’t necessary.
At ClickMarlow, we regularly see laptops and PCs that are written off long before the end of their useful lives. A failing battery, a worn-out hard drive, a clogged cooling system, or outdated software can make a perfectly good machine feel unusable. Sensible repair or upgrade can often restore years of reliable use at a fraction of the cost of replacement.
Repair is not just about saving money; although that matters. It is also about pushing back against unnecessary waste and the idea that technology should be disposable.
A repaired computer is judged by what it does, not how new it looks. If it runs email, documents, browsing, photos, and music reliably, then it is doing its job.
Repair also restores confidence. Understanding what has gone wrong; and what is worth fixing or not; gives people control over their technology and protects them from spending money they don’t need to spend.
Repair takes a little more time than replacement, but that pause allows for proper judgement rather than rushed decisions. In an age of sealed devices and one-click purchases, slowing down can be a virtue.
Local repair is human and specific. Every machine and every user is different. Repair cannot be fully automated or mass-produced; it relies on experience, honesty, and judgement.
Choosing repair is a small but meaningful decision. It keeps equipment in use, reduces waste, saves money, and helps people stay in control of the tools they rely on every day.
At ClickMarlow, repair isn’t about clinging to the past. It’s about making sensible, modern choices with the technology you already own.
