QUEENS Walk Resource Centre in South Ruislip, which supports adults with learning disabilities and complex needs, celebrated its 10th anniversary on Wednesday (14).

Centre users, their families, along with past and present staff, celebrated the milestone with a party.

Guests enjoyed a Summer Frolics sing-a-long show, performed by the Rah Rah Theatre, plus refreshments and games, including snakes and ladders and hook-a-duck.

There was also an exhibition of artwork created by centre users, and a display on the history of Queens Walk, which is run by Hillingdon Council.

Since it opened in 2014, the centre has developed a range of activities designed to encourage creativity and self-expression.

A music room helps residents improve their communication skills and there’s an art room where users can take part in painting, drawing and crafts.

The interactive room offers residents with severely limited mobility the opportunity to take part in games and activities using movement-controlled software.

There’s also a hydrotherapy pool with sensory lighting, which helps stimulate and encourage movement for those with physical disabilities.
