RESIDENTS visiting Harefield Civic Amenity Site can now donate unwanted items or pick up a bargain at Hillingdon Council’s new re-use centre.

It gives people the opportunity to bring along good-quality items to be upcycled or re-used and browse through a selection of quality household items.

Everything from tables, chairs and storage boxes to toys, chests of drawers, cabinets and unchipped crockery can be donated.

While there are no prices on individual items, Hillingdon is encouraging people to donate something each time they take an item away.

All proceeds will go to the Mayor’s chosen charities, Domestic Abuse Survivors and Navratri Garba.

Cllr Eddie Lavery, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “There are many items that can easily be used again with a bit of a clean and polish.”

The re-use centre is located to the right once you drive through the barriers.

It cannot accept textiles and electrical items such as TVs or hairdryers as it cannot test whether they work or are safe.
