A NEW family hub in Uxbridge was opened yesterday (7) by Hillingdon Council.

It brings services together under one roof, making them more accessible for families and young people.

A large, under-used office space (the Mezzanine) at the Civic Centre was transformed into a site that incorporates Uxbridge Children’s Centre, the Youth Justice Service, the multi-agency psychological support team and adolescent development.

It was formally opened by the council leader Ian Edwards and Cllr Jane Palmer, Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care.

It includes a modern reception and waiting area, play areas, contact rooms, meeting spaces, treatment rooms and a life-skills kitchen for supervised learning.

The hub is open Monday-Saturday and provides support for families of children and young people aged up to 19 (up to 25 for those with special educational needs).

Cllr Palmer said: “Many families are unaware of what support is available to them and where to go - and they often find it challenging to locate the services they need.

“Uxbridge Family Hub helps to take away the confusion of navigating council family services.”
