HILLINGDON’S hockey, netball and football teams took home an impressive medal haul as they hosted the London Youth Games West Regional event at Brunel University on Saturday (28).

Hillingdon claimed silver in the netball tournament, finishing behind Hounslow who won gold, and ahead of Ealing, who took home bronze.

Both male and female hockey teams finished in third place and were awarded bronze medals.

The Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Roy Chamdal, who attended, said: “The standard was absolutely amazing. We forget these are 11-, 12-, 13- and 14-year-old children yet they are playing like professionals.”

The London Youth Games has helped launch the careers of Dina Asher-Smith, Raheem Sterling, Alex Scott, David Weir and Mo Farah.
