A Chiltern based craft gin distillery has been selected for JD Wetherspoon's nationwide gin festival.

The 900-strong pub chain will be stocking Griffiths Brother No.2 gin during the festival, which begins today and runs until March 1.

30 different gins from across the country will be offered at hundreds of pubs across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Griffiths Brothers Gin No.2 will be available in more than 750 pubs and reach over 2 million weekly Wetherspoon customers during the festival.

The Griffiths Brothers Distillery was ranked in the top 40 of 1,400 gins at San Francisco's World Spirits Competition in 2018 and were awarded a gold medal.

The distillery use 13 different botanicals when producing their gin, including grapefruit zest, lime zest, rose petal, fennel and vanilla.

Alex Griffiths, co-founder of the Griffiths Brothers distillery, said: "“We are thrilled to be chosen by JD Wetherspoon for their 2020 festival. Our gins have won several international awards, so this is further recognition of their quality and appeal.

"It fills us both with a lot of pride to know that Griffiths Brothers No.2 was selected from 600 potential other gin varieties.

“Griffiths Brothers is one of a handful of UK distilleries to use a cold distillation method. This produces a brighter, purer taste than that achieved through more industrial processes.

"This is the reason why our gins consistently outperform other gins in blind tastings.”

Drew Griffiths, co-founder of the distiller, added: “Our reputation in the UK spirits industry has been building ever since we launched the distillery back in 2016.

“Being selected by the UK’s largest pub company, as one of only 30 gins for their national festival, is further evidence of our growing ambition and enhanced brand recognition.”
