A 42-mile charity walk is raising funds to support a cause that helps break the silence for those who cannot hear.

Fisher German’s High Wycombe team is taking part in the property consultancy’s Big 25 charity challenge, a nationwide relay marking the company’s 25th anniversary by raising money for 25 charities.

Teams are travelling between Fisher German’s 25 UK offices without using motorised transport.

The High Wycombe group is walking to the company’s Hungerford office over five days, after receiving the baton from colleagues in Worcester and Thame.

Each team is supporting a different charity, with High Wycombe choosing Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which has an office in the town.

Victoria Smart, senior facilities manager at Fisher German’s High Wycombe office, said: "None of the team has a direct connection to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, but some of us have previously supported the charity.

"Our route is split over five days with two or three colleague walking each day, averaging about 10 miles a day, with some dogs joining us on the way.

"It is brilliant that Big 25 is supporting such a wide variety of charities in our communities and that we have already reached our £25,000 target, but we are not resting on our laurels and want to raise as much money as possible so that they can all continue their wonderful work."

The team initially aimed to raise £25,000 but has already surpassed that goal.

Fisher German has pledged to match donations up to £25,000, meaning more than £50,000 will be split equally between the 25 charities.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf individuals to important sounds such as fire alarms, cooker timers, and doorbells, while also providing companionship and helping people feel less isolated.

The charity operates without central government funding and relies on legacies, sponsorships, and donations.

Kevin Game, community fundraising manager at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, said: "Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is thrilled to have been chosen by Fisher German as one of its charities for this challenge.

"They will be helping deaf people throughout the country.

"Their generosity will make a huge difference to us and they are real ‘Hear-oes.’"

The Big 25 challenge also coincides with a major rebrand for Fisher German, including updates to its logo and colours, reflecting its evolving strategy and future ambitions.
