Wycombe mamager Gareth Ainsworth believes he is ‘working out the league pretty quickly’ as the club continue their Championship adventure.

The Chairboys have so far played two games in their debut season as a Championship side, which has seen them lose both matches, concede six goals and not score any.

However, the 47-year-old is confident that things will eventually get going during their historical season in the second tier of English football, with Swansea being the club's next opponents.

Speaking ahead of their clash against the Swans this afternoon, Ainsworth said: “People get focussed on results but what about the long-term future of Wycombe Wanderers?

“That’s something that is really special - what we’ve achieved.

“If we were still in League One or League Two that would’ve been tough, especially with what’s happened.

“Look at the stories of Yeovil Town, Stockport County or Chesterfield, who went right down and out of the league again.

"We don’t want to be one of those teams.

"We want to make sure that we are solid and we are competitive in every league we are in, and this one will be the toughest, but we are not going to chuck money away just to try and cling onto something.

“We have to be smart and make sure Wycombe comes first and leave it up to me and the players to do all we can to survive and make a noise in this league.

"I’m sure we’ve got enough to do that."

“I’ve asked for a couple of games to work this league out, and I’m working it out pretty quickly.”
