Wycombe High School students get tested as classrooms prepare to reopen
Hundreds of students have been tested for Covid at a High Wycombe school ahead of its reopening on Monday.
Yesterday saw the first 400 students arriving for their Covid-19 tests at Wycombe High School in line with government guidance.
In a video filmed in the school grounds, students spoke about the tests, with many saying they were “quick and easy” and the system was “very organised”.
One pupil said: “It was really easy, very simple, [I am] quite impressed with the efficiency,” while another added: “The system was good and very organised”.
Another student said: “I felt very safe the entire time, it was very quick and easy to do, the instructions were super duper clear and I didn’t feel like I was struggling at any point.
“I’m really looking forward to going back to school.”

Also speaking on the video was deputy head teacher Sally Jarrett, who said yesterday (Thursday): “Today marks the start of our mass testing programme in preparation of the whole school reopening next week.
“This is very much in line with government guidance and we’re absolutely delighted to have a fully operational test centre which we’ve been running for the last 8 weeks.
“Today we have our Year 11 and 13 students coming in to take their first test, tomorrow will be Years 11 and 12, and then our Year 7s, 8s and 9s next week.
“We are very excited to see the girls back in school today [for their tests] and even more excited at the prospect of them all coming back next week.

“They’ve been very much missed and the school just hasn’t seemed the same without them.”
The school has been operating a Covid-19 mass testing centre set up by school staff over the Christmas holidays, and has been active throughout the third national lockdown.
Schools are set to go back on Monday (March 8), with members of households, childcare or support bubbles of school staff and pupils being told to get a Covid test twice a week when classrooms reopen.
