A man who drove the wrong way down the M40 and crashed, causing life-changing injuries, has been jailed for three years.

Rajakulendran Kurukulasingham, 47, from Wembley, pleaded guilty at Aylesbury Crown Court in July to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was sentenced last Thursday, October 30.

In February 2024, after he visited a petrol station, Kurukulasingham drove the wrong way down the motorway and crashed into a vehicle travelling on the right side of the carriageway.

One of the passengers in the vehicle, a woman in her forties, sustained serious and life-changing injuries.

Thames Valley Police Roads Policing stated: "This behaviour is unacceptable and we will pursue these offenders and bring them to justice in court.

"Mr Kurukulasingham, alongside being sentenced to prison, was disqualified from driving for 3 and a half years and will require an extended driving test to regain a license."
