A woman was mowed by down a car and left with head and leg injuries in a hit-and-run in High Wycombe this week.

The woman was crossing the road in Hatters Lane just before 5.30pm on Tuesday, November 12, when she was hit by a blue VW Golf.

The driver stopped for a few seconds before driving away.

The woman was left with head and leg injuries and was taken to Wexham Park Hospital but she has since been discharged.

Investigating officer, PC Dawn Seston, of Amersham Roads Policing, said she believed the car may have had cloned number plates.

She said: "I am appealing for witnesses to this incident, during which a woman sustained injuries and the driver didn't stop.

"This happened in a public area at a time where I believe it could have been witnessed by someone. If anyone saw anything they are asked to please contact police.

"I would also like to appeal to anyone who recognises the description of the blue Volkswagen Golf, with the registration plate beginning with W294.

"We believe that this registration plate might be cloned."

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101, quoting 43190354037. Reports can also be made online.
