Coronavirus South African variant found in Bucks 

Surge testing began in the Wooburn Green area earlier this week after the South African variant of coronavirus was found.

Buckinghamshire Council confirmed the variant cannot be traced back to international travel and also confirmed that the person who has it has self-isolated and followed all the recommended guidance.

Bucks could become home to another set for US TV programme

Major plans to build a new film set on the site of a manor house in Bucks have been submitted to the council.

The filming would take place over a 16-week period involving 80 day and night shoots, following a three month preparation period.

Involved in the filming will be between 300 and 350 cast and crew.

Developers have sought permission for a 12 month planning application in order to allow for any Covid-related delays to the filming.

West Wycombe School appoint new headteacher

A school in West Wycombe is looking forward to welcoming a new headteacher who is joining after the Easter holidays.

Ed Tang, currently at Great Missenden School which is ranked by Ofsted as Outstanding, will be joining West Wycombe School later this year.

The school also joined the Great Learners Trust in September 2020 which is a dynamic group of 8 primary schools working together in Buckinghamshire.

Backlash over new sports hall at Holmer Green Senior School

A SCHOOL expansion funded by the council has prompted backlash from locals who claim the construction of a new sports hall is ‘outside the permitted area’ and is “illegal”.

The Glebe Close and Stevens Close Residents’ Association lambasted Buckinghamshire Council and Holmer Green Senior School over a new sports facility some claim is “overbearing” and ‘light-cancelling’ because they say it is “outside of the permitted planning permission”.

 

Tesco Express Hazlemere: Shop to open on crossroads

A new Tesco Express opened in Hazlemere earlier this week.

The new store, which will provide 17 new jobs to the area, will be open 6am to 11pm daily and located at 325 Amersham Road with a car park at the back of the shop.
