Two arrests have been made following a crash that has left a man in a 'life-threatening condition'.

The crash occurred on the M1 northbound at around 6.30am this morning, May 16.

A grey BYD Seal U car and a black Peugeot 208 were involved in the incident between junction 14 for Milton Keynes and 15 for Northampton.

The Peugeot driver, a man in his forties, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Thames Valley Police have informed the man's next of kin and offered them support.

In a Facebook post, the force said: "We are repeating our appeal for witnesses to a road traffic collision on the M1 near Milton Keynes today, which has left a man in a life-threatening condition."

"We have made two arrests but any witnesses to the collision or the vehicles involved beforehand, should get in touch, quoting reference number 43260242362.

"If you were driving in the area at the time of the collision and have a dash-cam, please check your recording in case it has captured something that could assist us and get in touch if you have," Thames Valley Police added.

The M1 was closed between Junction 14 and 15 following the incident.
