The top things to do in Bucks this week
Elvis – The King Remembered
Billy and The Bonquas celebrate the music of Elvis Presley in style at this very popular annual event. Dance the night away with friends and family to the many hits of The King and help raise vital funds for Scannappeal. Well-known local singer Billy Gallacher will be backed by local musicians (The Bonquas) Johnny Wheeler, Jim Maving, Ken Hardiman, Roy Challis and Alex Probyn, to take audiences back to the golden age of Rock ‘n’ Roll with three and a half hours of the hits of Elvis. Garden of Eden

Top Secret Hughenden
Join the new recruits in the World War Two operation at Hughenden this summer. You’ll be issued with a Hillside Heroes briefing and take on top secret work. Cliveden - Tree Climbing
Bring along children for an exciting tree top adventure in Cliveden’s magnificent woodlands. Experts from The Great Big Tree Climbing Company lead the session and show children how to safely scale atop a woodland canopy. After enjoying a unique view of the estate from above, a final zip line to the forest floor completes the activity. A parent/guardian must accompany their child at all times. Summer Holiday: Vintage Crafts

Musical Sundays at West Wycombe
This will be your last chance to listen to the West Wycombe Brass band - an opportunity not to be missed. Traditional, pop and classic tunes - brass band style. Booking is not needed. Bat Walk
Join a local expert and immerse yourself in the world of bats at Maidenhead Thicket. Experts will guide you on a walk, sharing details about the local bat population. Gimme ABBA - 20th Anniversary Tour
Recreating the charismatic stage presence of the flamboyant and glam front four. Join Gimme ABBA for a unique stage show packed with hits, theatrical elements, costume changes and choreographed dance routines – all coming together to recreate that original ABBA party feel. Ragged Victorians
This is a unique opportunity to learn about the less savoury aspects of Victorian life in a fun, family-friendly environment with the ‘Ragged Victorians’. Meet costumed re-enactors in the museum buildings and around the site. Look out for shady characters including the rat catcher and his rats; street urchins, rogues and vagabonds. This Ragged Victorians event is great for kids who are learning about the Victorians at school. Watch out for pickpockets. Standard admission prices apply. Free entry for annual pass holders.

Terrific Tuesday
It can be tough finding activities to keep the children entertained throughout the school summer holidays. So the museum’s education team have created special themed family activities, games and crafts all for the standard admission price. On August 20, the theme is water. There is plenty of space for picnics, a tea room, adventure playground and a small working farm to enjoy.

Sights and Sounds of the Storm
Learn about the stormy weather that James and his friends experienced on their travels, then make junk model instruments to play in the storm orchestra. Cost: £3 per participant. Get Lolloping Outdoors
Get the family together to explore Roald Dahl’s home village on the guided walks to discover the places that inspired Roald Dahl. On the Village Trail you’ll see Danny’s dad’s petrol pumps (from Danny, the Champion of the World), the house that was the inspiration for Sophie’s norphanage in The BFG, Matilda’s library and Roald Dahl’s grave. On the Countryside Trail you’ll explore some of the Chiltern countryside that Roald Dahl loved. Keep your eyes peeled for some familiar insect friends as we hunt for bugs in the woods and the inspiration for Roald Dahl’s first popular book for children, James and the Giant Peach. Cost: £1.50 per participant in addition to museum entry. You’ll need a Museum admission ticket to enjoy this event. No dogs are allowed - except guide dogs. Footpaths might be muddy and are steep in places. Please come dressed appropriately for the weather. Bohemian Rhapsody - Open Air Cinema
See Wycombe Museum’s beautiful grounds transformed into a community cinema and enjoy a screening of Bohemian Rhapsody. Bring along your own picnic blankets or deck chairs. Hot dogs, popcorn and a bar will be available to enjoy on the night. The film screening will begin 30 minutes after entry times. This event is in partnership with Cinemas4Fun.
