A NEW outdoor seating area, an electric bike shop and a big increase in jobs are just some of the new features planned as part of a garden centre overhaul which is partly underway.

Tendercare Nurseries has submitted to Bucks Council a planning application for its Southlands Road site, in Denham, but works have already started, according to council documents.

The business is being relocated from its former location (which has been sold to Mercedes Benz for a car showroom) to the southern part of the site.

Plans include the installation of a new outside seating area with a retractable roof.

There will also be a new reception area, retail shop, and office building, and the relocation of an existing partly open-sided canopy.

New customer toilets, a store and irrigation pump room, and a store and staff room are also planned.

There is also mention of an electric bike shop.

The proposed customer car park is for 98 spaces, plus 31 staff parking bays.

The overall internal footprint of the revamped centre will be reduced from 5,334 sqm to 2,639 sqm, reports indicate.

The number of full-time employees will jump from 21 to 38, and part-time staff appointments will also increase from 10 to 31.

A planning statement reads: “The overall theme of the proposed development is to create a series of individually designed buildings grouped around a landscaped courtyard which is intended to inspire visitors.”

Although works are already underway, they are still incomplete, according to council documents.

Bucks Council validated the online application on Wednesday, May 5.

It is believed an application may have been submitted around mid-April.
