Sunday League Report - How did the High Wycombe based teams do?
On the day football mourned the passing of one of the games’ most naturally gifted goal scorers of his time – the High Wycombe Sunday Combination was again, to witness a lorry-load of goals as teams begin to set their markers out for the season.
England legend, Jimmy Greaves, was revered for his net-bulging exploits whilst at Chelsea, & later Tottenham Hotspur, would’ve been proud to have witnessed goals aplenty, across Buckinghamshire, as 115 efforts rippled the net.
St Johns Sports Reserves racked up the game-weeks biggest gulf in difference, beating sorry Ridgeway Royals Reserves 9-0, to move top of Division 3 on goal difference.
REOC finally saw competitive football for the first time since April, as they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Rye by AFC Aylesbury.
Conor Remsbury-Kelly cancelled out Jack Bowers opener for the Ducks.
Current leaders FC Marlow pushed aside a tame effort from Jolly Sportsman, at Gossmore Lane. Marlow fell behind to a penalty midway through the first half, before a quick-fire Mark Slatter double, edged the home side in front at the break.
Further goals from Biu Dinh Kevin Trieu, & a cross that founds its way into the far corner of the net, late on, from Billy Moore, sealed a routine victory.
St Johns Sports picked up their 1st victory of the season, sticking six past AFC Liberal in a 6-2 away win, striker Ben Wallington bagged four, alongside goals from Thomas Waring & Earl Atat for SJS.
Three Horseshoes v Crendon House was a postponed fixture.
The division’s current top scorer, Matthew Hatt, fired four past Ridgeway Royals for table toppers Wycombe Marsh. The surprise league leaders keep their 100 per cent record intact, with a 6-3 away win at notoriously difficult, Chinnor Hill. Aaron Knight notched a brace in the win, whilst Adam Jeffries scored another brace for the home side, alongside a Max Brown strike, who notched on his Ridgeway Royals debut.
Wycombe Athletic kept up their impressive start, condemning Prestwood United to their second defeat in three games, courtesy of goals from Des Springer, Luke Browne & Shannon Beniston. Denham United cut the ribbon at their new home, Martinsfield, before duly recording a 2-0 victory over AFC Liberal Reserves, with Connor Cumber notching a brace. White Hart’s struggles continued, having to postpone their game with FC Lions.
The Hazlemere Community Association Social Club train plunders on in Division 2, with Elliot at the wheel. Chief goal scorer Sam Green, notched another four strikes to move clear as the divisions leading marksman. Robert Eaglesham & James Przybylak scored for successive weeks as HCASC took the bragging rights in the “Hazlemere Derby” beating Hazlemere Sports 7-3.
Robert Folker, Mark Burnard & Ibongeninkosi Njani scored consolation efforts for the home side.
Lane End remain on HCASC’s coat tails however, joint top on 9 points, as they continue their fine start - beating Real Saracens 3-1 away, at the Rye. Denham United Reserves sit in 3rd, despite losing 2-1 at home to FC Beaconsfield Reserves, Curtis Tannis & Jacob Jimu with the FCB goals.
Bucks Pumas rattled in an impressive 8-3 victory, away to FC Hazlemere, whilst WMCO United turned over KODA FC 5-1 thanks to goals from Aidan Vaux (Hat trick) & Nathan Gould.
Downley Albion continued their great start to life in Division 3, recording a 5-2 victory away at Tetsworth. William Nagle firing a hat-trick for the yellows, alongside strikes from Mikey Martins & Jonathan Cox. Tetsworth stalwart, Joe Kitchen, & Felix Horner replied for the hosts, who reside in 5th place.
Adrian Vasile Iusco is quickly becoming the hottest property in the League, as his treble for the third week running, fired AFC Wycombe to a 6-3 victory away at Thame United. Nicu-Lulian Voineag, Harry Goss & James Bishop were the other Wycombe scorers. Sean Hardy (2) & Fred Tapping notched for Thame.
A Jake Williams strike was enough to give AFC Denham all 3 points for the first time this season, as they edged Hambleden SSC at the Rye.
Hazlemere Sports Wanderers moved to the top of Division 4 on goal difference, after smashing Wanderers FC, 7-0, with seven different scorers. Messrs Wyncoll, Payne, Koumi, Jackson, Eddowes, Cornacchia, and substitute Harry Fountain ran riot at Hazlemere Rec, leaving sorry Wanderers without either a point, or a goal on the board at this stage.
FC Marlow Royals recorded a 3-1 win away at FC Beaconsfield Development, sub Danial Jafari with the consolation effort for FCBD.
Maidenhead Rangers picked up their maiden victory of the season in style, beating United for Dementia 9-2 at Holmers Farm.
Seer Green moved up to 3rd place in the League, with a solid 2-0 victory over Bourne End United, still with a 100 per cent win ratio.
Mill Lane & Bucks Buffalo’s took a share of the points after a tight 1-1 draw at Hervines Park, Benedict Andrews scoring for the hosts.
