Speeds of up to 68mph have been recorded in an around High Wycombe as police crack down on rule-breaking motorists.

Officers have out in the Downley, Disraeli, Sands and Cressex areas of the town in the last week completing speed checks.

The force said some 'concerningly high speeds' were recorded during the checks that were carried out by PCSOs and officers from the Wycombe West neighbourhood team.

One photo shared by the force showed a speed of 68mph being recorded on a hand-held speed gun.

A spokesperson said: "The speed checks help identify which roads have the most issues of speeding, the data is gathered and reviewed to assist with future speed enforcement operations and preventative measures by both the police and our partner agencies

"As speeding is consistently voted as a community priority by the residents of the Wycombe West area, the team will continue to take steps towards tackling the issue and any individuals who refuse to respect the laws of the road."
