Two Slough women have been arrested in connection with a 'high-value shoplifting' incident in Oxford.

Officers were seen blue-lighting to the Costa Coffee in Queen Street, Oxford city centre on October 10.

Sources at the café claimed they saw a woman "being quizzed and searched".

Images from inside the café show at least three police officers inside questioning the woman and a police car parked outside.

The source said: "Police with flashing blue lights arrived at Costa Coffee this afternoon it was observed on passing by.

"On going inside to get a coffee it could be seen at least one woman was being be being quizzed and searched at the back of the ground floor near the toilets and seating area.

"The woman [...] could be seen having her bag checked and being questioned. Other police were scattered around."

A police spokesman said: "Following a report of suspicious people on Queen Street, Oxford, at around 3.15pm, we arrested two women from Slough in relation to a high-value shoplifting incident at FatFace on Queen Street on 3 June.

"They remain in our custody. An investigation is ongoing."
