A fire inside a lift in High Wycombe prompted an emergency response and a road closure this morning.

Seven fire crews and five officers were called to Easton Street at 9.06am today, September 11.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said crews attending the incident came from Beaconsfield, Amersham, High Wycombe, Gerrards Cross, Maidenhead, Windsor, Slade Park and Slough.

Firefighters located the fire within a lift and used two sets of breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish it.

A road closure was put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident, though the Free Press understands the road reopened around 11.45am.

No further details about the cause of the fire or the extent of any damage have been released.
