A Bucks primary school has been 'blown away' by community generosity after cold weather caused a pipe to burst, flooding its nursery.

The youngest children at Cedar Park School in Hazlemere have been temporarily relocated to an art room in the school amid 'significant damage' to their space and essential resources.

A spokesperson for the school's headteacher said: "We have been so blown away by the support."

They said that the community had come together and that the school is 'really, really' grateful.

The flood has left Cedar Park needing to cover costs of a replacement nursery class carpet, damaged toys and wooden learning resources, as well as maintenance and repair costs.

Over £2000 has been raised, helping the school to begin addressing the immediate impact of the water damage and some resources.

The school has a GoFundMe page titled 'Welcome to 2026… and an Unexpected Start for Our Nursery', its current target is £3,500.

On the page, the school described the situation.

It states: "As we welcomed all our children back yesterday we were unexpectedly hit by a burst water pipe which caused flooding and significant damage to the Nursery class.

"We are so grateful to staff, children and parents for being so understanding and patient whilst we relocated Nursery to a temporary class in the art room.

"As a result of the flooding, we have had to dispose of essential resources, including our main class bug carpet worth £500 alone, which is used daily for group learning, story time and routines.

"A number of toys and wooden learning resources were also damaged beyond repair.

"In addition, there are unplanned maintenance and repair costs associated with the incident.

"Unfortunately, schools do not hold contingency funds for unexpected incidents of this nature.

"Any costs incurred must be met from already stretched budgets, which directly impacts classroom provision."

The school has thanked all those who have donated on its fundraising page and on social media.

"Your generosity and support have meant a great deal to our school community.

"Thanks to your kindness, we have been able to begin addressing the immediate impact of the burst water pipe and start replacing essential resources that were damaged.

"Every donation, no matter the size, is making a real difference for our children.

"If you are able to continue sharing this page or donate again, we would be incredibly grateful. Thank you once again for standing with us and supporting our children and school."
