A restaurant inside a popular department store will can now serve alcohol.

The Benugo-run eatery at John Lewis on Holmers Farm Way in High Wycombe has been granted a premises licence.

In the application, the site is described as a customer restaurant selling food and drink, including alcohol.

The licence permits the sale of alcohol seven days a week, from 8am to 11pm.

Under the licence, Benugo will operate a Challenge 25 proof-of-age scheme to ensure alcoholic drinks are not sold to anyone under the age of 18.

Staff at the restaurant will receive training on alcohol legislation, which will be refreshed at least once a year.

The restaurant's licence also allows it to stay open from 8am until 11pm, seven days a week.

Benugo was started on the high street in Clerkenwell, London by brothers Ben and Hugo over 20 years ago.
