Residents are being invited to have their say on proposals for a new Lidl supermarket and up to 54 homes in Aylesbury.

Lidl GB has invited the local community have their say on the proposals for land off Lower Road ahead of submitting a planning application.

The proposals include a new discount foodstore designed to serve residents in the south of the town, alongside outline proposals for up to 54 new homes.

The retailer said the development would represent a multi-million-pound investment in the area and create up to 40 jobs.

The proposed store would include a 1,308sqm sales area, featuring Lidl's bakery and its "Middle of Lidl" aisle.

Also included are 123 customer parking spaces, including accessible bays, parent-and-child spaces and electric vehicle charging points.

Lidl says the building would incorporate air source heat pumps and heat recovery systems to reduce energy consumption, with rooftop solar panels fitted to help provide around 25 per cent of the store's energy requirements.

New landscaping and tree planting is also proposed around the site, while a mature tree on Lower Road would be retained.

Kate Bleloch, regional head of property at Lidl GB, said: "More than three in five households are now shopping at Lidl as more people vote with their feet and choose our great value and low prices.

"But shoppers in south Aylesbury are currently missing out, having to travel across town to shop, which is why we're delighted to reveal plans for a new Lidl store to serve the growing community and nearby towns and villages to the south of Aylesbury.

"We want your feedback to help shape our plans to meet your needs."

Alongside the supermarket, Lidl will seek outline planning permission for up to 54 homes, with more detailed residential plans expected to come forward at a later stage.

Residents can share their views on the proposals before a planning application is submitted.

Views can be shared via the dedicated website, which can be found at https://aylesbury.newsite.lidl.co.uk, or by returning the freepost leaflet.
