A new impact report has highlighted the difference being made by targeted support for military families.

The RAF Benevolent Fund’s 2024 Impact Report shows more than 64,000 people worldwide benefited from its emotional, financial, and practical support last year, including personnel and families based at RAF High Wycombe.

Irene Greenwood, welfare programmes manager at the RAF Benevolent Fund, said: "The fund’s continued support for RAF stations such as RAF Halton and RAF High Wycombe remains essential in providing practical, financial, and emotional support for serving personnel and their families.

"The initiatives we’ve funded have offered opportunities for families to connect and engage with others on base, helping to strengthen community on station and contribute to overall wellbeing.

"We are pleased to see the ongoing value these programmes bring to the lives of the serving community."

The fund allocated more than £1,900 in grants to RAF High Wycombe in 2024, supporting the BenPlay and BenParenting programmes for parents and carers of children aged five or younger.

Additionally, more than £1,200 in funding was directed towards the station’s Families Day and Operation Christmas projects, which provided hampers and Christmas lunches to RAF veterans in the local community.

RAF Halton also received £800 to support its Families Day event last year, bringing serving personnel and their families together for a fun-filled day of entertainment.

In total, more than 32,500 serving personnel and their families took part in community activities supported by the fund, including the Airplay youth programme, family events, and station grants.
