A man charged with rape after an alleged attack on a woman in Henley has been granted bail.

Andrew Dent , 54, was charged with nine counts of rape, five counts of sexual assault by penetration and three counts of intentional strangulation.

He was also charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of voyeurism.

At a hearing in Reading today (Wednesday, March 4), Dent was granted bail with conditions, meaning he has been released while further investigation takes place.

The Chronicle and other members of the press attended the court to cover the hearing, however they were excluded as it was heard in private.

The charges brought against Dent relate to two women allegedly being raped, sexually assaulted, strangled and assaulted on separate occasions after meeting on a dating website or application.

One of the victims, who is in her 50s and from London, was at an address in Henley, south Oxfordshire on the evening of October 26, 2024.

While the other victim, a woman in her 30s and from South Wales, was attacked, and had intimate photographs of her taken without her consent, in a West Berkshire hotel on the evening of June 19, 2024.

Dent, of Desborough Road in High Wycombe, is due to appear at Reading Crown Court on Monday, March 23.
