Police have reassured the public after an increased police presence in the Central Milton Keynes area, including armed response officers. 

Officers, including armed units, were deployed in the city centre to respond to an incident yesterday evening, August 7.

Thames Valley Police said that while seeing an increased police presence can be concerning, there is no threat to the wider public. 

A spokesperson for the force said: "We are aware that seeing an increased Police presence, particularly armed officers, can be concerning for members of the public but we would like to reassure the community that there is no cause for concern and no threat to the wider public.

"Armed officers are deployed routinely across the Thames Valley and may be used to support a range of Policing operations and response to incidents.

"Their presence does not necessarily indicate an increased risk to the public.

"We understand that their visibility can be worrying, but residents and visitors should be reassured that this activity is precautionary and aimed at keeping people safe.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding.
