Plans to turn a former Bucks business centre into a film set have been approved.

The application asked Bucks council for prior approval to use the former Capswood Business Centre in Denham for filmmaking.

The entire Oxford Road site will be used for filming including its three detached two-storey office buildings and adjoining land to the east.

The nature of the filming is unknown at this time with the application having been submitted by the Watford-based construction firm, JB Structures.

In the application, submitted on July 29, it says: “The filming on the western part of the site will be confined to within the buildings.

“The filming proposed in the previous yard area on the eastern end of the site is separated from Primrose Court by the existing buildings and it is considered that these would scatter and reflect any noise that could be generated from the film-set, therefore reducing any potential impact on nearby residents.

“Likewise the separation of Oxford Road will ensure that any residential properties are not impacted by any potential noise from the film set.

“Filming on the eastern end of the site will be within the existing buildings and there will therefore be no greater impact to residents within Primrose Court from lighting than when the site was in office use.”

Filming is due to only take place during day-time hours in order to reduce noise pollution and the existing parking arrangements will remain the same.

The applicant added: “Should any concerns be raised by the local residents during the filming phase then suitable changes can be made to the set’s operation.

“Oxford Road is a wide road and it is considered that this along with existing vegetation and tree coverage reduces the potential for any negative light impacts to residential properties to the south.

“The film-set lighting will be limited to essential lighting for the set’s operation and will be down-lit to mitigate detrimental light pollution.

“It has been demonstrated that there are no highways, flooding, noise or light reasons why the temporary use should not be allowed.”

In an officers report it said the proposed temporary use of the land for film making would constitute permitted development.

The approval, issued on October 2 by Buckinghamshire Council, means filming can now begin at the former Capswood Business Centre in Denham.

The developer, JB Structures, has up to three years to start work under the terms of the decision.
