Plans to extend a historic High Wycombe pub have been approved after an earlier proposal was rejected.

This is just one of the many applications considered by Buckinghamshire Council during the past seven days.

PL/26/04924/FA | Erection of single-storey rear extension incorporating painted timber cladding and painted timber windows to match existing building, with pitched slate roof to match existing roof finish. | The Beech Tree Amersham Road High Wycombe Buckinghamshire HP13 5AJ

Buckinghamshire Council has granted permission for a single-storey rear extension at The Beech Tree in Amersham Road.

The development will provide additional toilet facilities for staff and customers, according to documents submitted by applicant Star Pubs & Bars Ltd.

The extension will have a footprint of approximately 10.52 square metres and feature painted timber cladding and painted timber windows.

A pitched slate roof will be installed to match the existing building, while the submitted documents also show new timber fencing and a gate.

No changes are proposed to the use of the pub, its opening hours, access arrangements or parking provision.

The Beech Tree dates from the 18th century and was altered during the 19th century before being extended further in the 1990s.

Although it is not statutorily listed, the pub is identified as a non-designated heritage asset within the Terriers Conservation Area.

It forms part of an important historic group containing two Grade II-listed buildings and three non-designated heritage assets, including the pub.

An earlier application for a rear toilet extension was refused by the council in May.

Officers said its modest size, pitched roof and traditional materials would allow it to integrate satisfactorily with the existing pub.

The extension will be positioned at the rear, where the applicant says it will have limited visibility from Amersham Road and nearby green spaces.

PL/26/03668/FA | Construction of a gazebo (part retrospective) | 4 Highbeeches Close Marlow Bottom Buckinghamshire SL7 3PX

A large garden gazebo built partly without planning permission has been allowed to remain despite concerns from residents.

Buckinghamshire Council has granted retrospective permission for the timber-framed structure at 4 Highbeeches Close, Marlow Bottom.

The gazebo measures approximately 4.8 metres by 4.2 metres and is 3.5 metres high.

Residents raised concerns about its appearance, possible overlooking, noise and disturbance, overdevelopment and its impact on the Chilterns National Landscape.

However, planning officers said the single-storey, partly open structure was sufficiently screened and would remain subordinate to the house.

They concluded it would not harm neighbours’ privacy, reduce light or appear overbearing.

The applicant said the gazebo would provide shelter for private outdoor dining and socialising and would not be used for sleeping or commercial purposes.

PL/22/0367/FA | Reconfiguration of first and second floors to change existing 2 apartments into 3 apartments, installation of 3 front and 1 rear roof lights and associated works | 4 Grimsdells Corner Sycamore Road Amersham Buckinghamshire HP6 5EL

Buckinghamshire Council has approved plans to turn two apartments into three and install four rooflights at 4 Grimsdells Corner, Amersham, more than four years after the application was validated.
