PEOPLE of all faiths and backgrounds came together for a special afternoon of celebration last weekend.

Community iftar events in High Wycombe and Beaconsfield saw dozens congregrate to share food, faith and friendship.

Hosted by local Muslim groups during Ramadan, the gatherings offered non‑Muslim neighbours a chance to learn more about why Muslims fast – from dawn until sunset – and to experience the moment of iftar, when the fast is broken, side by side.

At St Thomas Church Hall in Beaconsfield on Sunday, the SBMC Beaconsfield Iftar 2026 saw families, community leaders and guests sit together on long, shared tables, reflecting the spirit of hospitality at the heart of Ramadan.

After prayers and the traditional breaking of the fast with dates and water, visitors were invited to enjoy a hot meal and conversation, with children helping to serve plates and pour drinks.

The Bucks Free Press was there to capture the evening, with photos by Ian Longthorne showing the warmth and togetherness on display.

A Community Iftar was also held at Jamia Rehmania on March 1, organised by Imam Haseeb Jahangir.

The event was well attended by members of the local community, including local MP Emma Reynolds, councillors, TVP Police and community leaders.

Imam Haseeb Jahangir said that interfaith events like this are important for building bridges between communities and promoting love, peace, and harmony.

He also shared that the High Wycombe Faith Group, launched last January, has been visiting many faith organisations across the area to strengthen community relations.

The founder of Jamia Rehmania, Imam Khush Bakht, said he was very proud of the success of the event and thanked everyone who attended.

Emma Reynolds MP said: “I was honoured to attend an inspiring community Iftar at Jamia Rehmania Educational and Cultural Trust during the holy month of Ramadan.

"It was a pleasure to share a delicious meal with so many Wycombe residents and community leaders, including many friends from the multi faith group organised by Imam Haseeb Jahangir.

"At a time of increasing division, gatherings like this help strengthen the bonds between our local communities."
