Patrols have been taking place across South Buckinghamshire after a rise in burglaries.

Police say they are increasing their presence in areas like Denham, Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, the Chalfonts, Amersham and Burnham.

It comes as the force is expecting an annual increase in burglaries as days become shorter.

High-visibility patrols took place as pert of Operation Grotto in recent days.

A spokesperson said: "Operation Grotto refers to our dedicated resources focussing on villages and towns most impacted by burglaries such as Denham, Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, the Chalfonts, Amersham and Burnham.

"Burglary prevention efforts are crucial to help us reduce the number of burglaries.

"Measures such as light-timer switches can make your home a less attractive target, and can be purchased relatively cheap or provided by our local neighbourhood teams."
