An outdoor clothing store has launched a “closing down” sale at its Marlow branch after nearly a decade in the town.

Bright yellow signs reading “Closing Down – Everything Must Go” have appeared in the windows of Mountain Warehouse on the High Street, signalling the end of its time in the South Buckinghamshire town.

The shop, which first opened in 2016, has been a familiar presence for residents and visitors looking for affordable outdoor wear and equipment.

Shoppers passing by this week can see discounts being advertised across the store, with stock gradually being cleared ahead of its final day of trading.

Mountain Warehouse has not publicly confirmed a closing date for the branch, but the signage suggests the closure process is already underway.

The Marlow store is the latest in a number of changes to the retailer’s estate in recent years.

Since 2020, several branches across the UK have shut or relocated, often as part of wider efforts to move into larger premises or consolidate stores in nearby locations.

Despite individual closures, the company has continued to operate hundreds of outlets nationwide, alongside opening new sites in retail parks and other towns.

For Marlow, however, the closure will mark the loss of a long-standing High Street retailer, bringing an end to nearly nine years of trading in the town centre.
