WE will soon be remembering the first anniversary of Michael’s death, so this week I have compiled a montage of pictures showing the exterior and interior of his music shop ‘Chiltern Sound’ in Spittal Street near the junction with Dean Street.

This also included an exhibition of old musical instruments, a mini-museum.

Marlow Museum, the Marlow Society, and Marlow Jazz Club (which was founded by Michael) have combined to organise events to remember Michael’s legacy to the town. These events include an exhibition at Marlow Museum, “Marlow’s Mr Jazz - celebrating the life and achievements of Michael Eagleton”. This opens to the public on Saturday May 23 1-5 pm at the museum and runs throughout the summer. Opening days at the Museum, Court Garden, Pound Ln, Marlow SL7 2AE are normally Weds 2-5; Fri 10-2; Sat & Sun 1-5.

There will also be a jazz evening in memory of Michael at Court Garden House on Sat 18 July from 7.30pm, music starting at 8pm. Tickets £20 each from The Jazz Experience. Details to be announced soon. Look out for more information about these events in the Nostalgia page over the next few weeks.

Next week’s Marlow Free Press will include an article by Daniella Andrew in memory of Michael’s contribution to the town where he was born and to which he made such a wonderful contribution throughout his life.
