Nitrous Oxide (NOS) canisters have been seized after reports of individuals inhaling the gas from balloons at a motorway service station.

Police officers attended the Beaconsfield M40 service station and carried out searches amid the disclosure about class C drug use.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) stated: "A big thank you to the vigilant members of the public who reported individuals inhaling Nitrous Oxide (NOS) balloons in their vehicles at Beaconsfield Service station.

"Officers attended the scene and carried out searches on individuals and cars and seized Nitrous Oxide canisters and appropriate outcomes were issued ( Lets just say the party atmosphere.....deflated pretty quicky).

"Nitrous Oxide also known as laughing gas is a controlled Class C drugs and while it may have the reputation for giggles, the consequences are no joke!

"Thames Valley Police will continue to address this issue. If you see something that doesn't look right, please report it - together we can help keep our roads safe and our balloons firmly at birthday parties where they belong!"

This comes as the force unveiled a new NOS amnesty bin in Wycombe.

It installed the disposal box at Totteridge Community Centre.

TVP stated: "This new bin gives members of the public a safe place to dispose of unwanted nitrous oxide canisters, helping to keep our parks, streets, and green spaces cleaner and safer for everyone.

"Thank you to the community centre for working with us to make this happen.

"If you have any NOS canisters you wish to get rid of, please use the bin responsibly."
