A new sports pavilion has been officially opened, marking the start of a new chapter.

Stoke Mandeville and Kingsbrook Football Club in Aylesbury celebrated the launch, which includes new playing fields and a recreational ground.

The facilities were delivered by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes as part of the Kingsbrook development and gifted to Kingsbrook Parish Council.

Tom Slater, head of technical at Barratt David Wilson North Thames, said: "Seeing the new pavilion and grounds officially open, and already enjoyed by so many local families and young players, is an exciting moment for everyone involved.

"Creating strong communities has always been at the heart of our work at Kingsbrook, and these new facilities will give local clubs and residents a fantastic space to come together, stay active and support grassroots sport for years to come."

The opening was celebrated with an all-day football tournament and an end-of-season event for the club.

Players, families, and local Kingsbrook residents gathered for matches, trophy presentations for junior players, games, and a barbecue.

The pavilion is the latest addition to Kingsbrook’s growing list of amenities, which already includes schools, nurseries, shops, and more than 500 acres of public green space.

Ben Farrow-Stevenson, chairman of the football club, said: "We are incredibly excited about our future at Kingsbrook.

"These fantastic new facilities will help us strengthen community connections, inspire young people and create an inclusive environment where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together through a shared passion for football."

Kingsbrook Parish Council welcomed the club to its new home and expressed thanks to the developer.

Adam Bennitt, chairman of Kingsbrook Parish Council, said: "The Parish Council is delighted to welcome Stoke Mandeville and Kingsbrook Football Club to these new facilities, which will provide fantastic opportunities for local young people and create a valuable recreational space for residents and families to enjoy.

"We are extremely grateful to Barratt David Wilson North Thames for providing the space, and we look forward to supporting the club as it continues to grow within the community."

Kingsbrook is a multi-phase development that has delivered a broad range of community infrastructure.

This includes schools, shops, a dental practice, and parks such as Railway Park, which features a wildlife sculpture trail.

Construction is also underway on Kingsbrook Meadows, a 250-acre nature reserve and visitor centre in partnership with the RSPB.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes have been building homes in the Kingsbrook community for the past 10 years.
