A new broadband pole is set to be installed in front of a fast-food restaurant in Chesham.

Planning applications put forward to Buckinghamshire Council on September 15 confirmed that Openreach, a company that designs, installs, and maintains the physical network of copper and fibre optic cables that connect homes and businesses to phone and broadband services.

The unitary authority considered the proposal and gave it the green light on September 25.

It will be built in front of 13 Greenway in the town, which currently houses the town’s Domino’s Pizza branch.

The planning application reads: “For the purpose of building an electronic communications network, and in accordance with The Electronic Communications Code, and the relevant Town and Country Planning General Permitted Development Order (as amended) we hereby notify you, the local planning authority, of BT’s intention to install fixed line broadband electronic communications apparatus under Regulation 5, detailed as 9m Light wooden pole at the above location. This may include installations on, in, or near a listed building.”

It continues: “In conclusion, it is considered that a fair and reasonable balance would be struck between the interests of the community and the human rights of the individuals concerned in the event of no objection being raised to the proposed development.”
