A mother and daughter from have raised more than £3,300 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association after taking part in a skydive challenge.

Michèle Gasper and her daughter Shannon Sperl jumped from 14,000 feet at Langar Airfield near Nottingham on Saturday, August 1, in support of the MND Association.

The money raised will be shared between the national charity, which funds research and campaigning, and the Chiltern Branch, which supports people living with and affected by motor neurone disease.

Ms Gasper said she had been supporting fundraising for the Chiltern Branch of the MND association via the ladies' golf section at Wycombe Heights Golf Centre and the Wycombe Philharmonic Choir.

Describing the jump, she said she and Ms Sperl completed tandem skydives with experienced instructors before free-falling for around a minute.

She said: "We both had an amazing time and would definitely do it again."

Ms Gasper added that her daughter even played rock-paper-scissors with her tandem partner during the free fall and "apparently screamed the whole way down".

Motor neurone disease is a life-shortening neurological condition that affects the nerves controlling movement.

The Chiltern Branch of the MND Association provides support through community meetings, home visits and a range of support funds for those affected by the disease.
