The Rotary Club of Marlow has elected two presidents for the rotary year for the first time in their history.

The club, which is part of Rotary International, has been active in Marlow for over 70 years and will see Derrick Southon serve for the first six months as president from July 2020 to January 2021, with Frank Crowley serving as president January 2021 to June 2021.

This is because both men agreed to share the year.

And following Mr Crowley’s spell as president which will end in the summer of next year, the Rotary Club of Marlow will have their first-ever female president in Annie Roy-Barker.

Mr Southon will replace Mr Brian Jonson as president this summer.

Following these changes, fellow Rotarian Lance Slater said: “There is no doubt that these two men, who have been presidents before, will lead us to a great year.

“We are also very excited to have Annie as our president for the following year.

“We also thank the people of Marlow for their help too.”

The Rotary Club of Marlow help organise several charity events across the town to help the needy, as well as helping those across the country and the world.

The club has done and is currently helping those living in poverty countries such as Uganda and Monrovia, whilst also aiding those within Marlow.

And to help Marlovians, they arrange events such as the Senior Citizens Boat Trip and the Fun Day for Young Carers.

However, due to the ongoing pandemic, both of these events have been postponed for this year but will go ahead in 2021.
