A man who was found at the bottom of some stairs died from a ‘traumatic brain injury’, a pre-inquest hearing has heard.

Nigel Bunker, 72, was discovered by family on January 17 at the foot of the steps in his property along Carver Hill Road in High Wycombe.

The emergency services were immediately called, and following their arrival, he was transported to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for further treatment.

He sadly died as a result of his injuries two days later, on January 19.

At the inquest opening, which took place on February 2 at Beaconsfield Coroner’s Court, senior coroner Crispin Butler revealed that the retired engineer, who was born in London, died as a result of a ‘traumatic brain injury’.

A full inquest into Mr Bunker’s death will take place on June 23 at the same location.
