A 28-year-old man has been jailed for eight years after being convicted of rape.

Emmanuel Jeche, formerly of Walnut Tree, Milton Keynes, was sentenced at Amersham Crown Court on July 2 after a jury unanimously found him guilty at the conclusion of an eight-day trial on May 14.

The offence took place in Wolverton, Milton Keynes, during the early hours of June 12, 2021.

The victim reported the offence to police on June 13, 2021, prompting an investigation.

Jeche was arrested the following day.

During the investigation, Jeche admitted sexual intercourse had taken place but claimed it was consensual.

He was subsequently charged and later convicted by a jury.

Investigating officer Police Staff Investigator David Brandon, of Milton Keynes CID, said: “No sentence can ever compensate a victim for the trauma caused by a rape offence and the long-term effects such crimes can have.

“However, I hope this sentence provides the victim with a sense of closure and allows her to continue rebuilding her life following this awful experience.

“I would like to commend the courage and determination shown by the victim throughout the investigation and court process.

“Rape and other sexual offences can have a devastating impact on victims.

“We will continue to investigate these offences thoroughly, support victims and pursue those responsible through the courts.”
