An award scheme to honour unsung community champions has returned for a second year.

The Churchill Living Local Hero Awards, based in Buckinghamshire, celebrate over-60s who have made a positive impact in their communities, whether through volunteering, mentoring, or daily acts of kindness.

Eligible nominees can put themselves forward, or be nominated by friends, family, or neighbours.

The overall winners will each receive a donation of up to £1,000 for a charity of their choice.

Spencer McCarthy, chairman and CEO of Churchill Living, said: "After the incredible response to last year’s awards, we’re delighted to be bringing back the Local Hero Awards for a second year.

"We meet so many remarkable people through our work, whose generosity and community spirit make a genuine difference to those around them."

Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges, including representatives from Churchill Living, and selected nominees will be invited to an awards ceremony at a nearby Churchill Living development later this summer.

Last year’s scheme saw Churchill Living’s charitable arm, the Churchill Foundation, donate a total of £10,000 to causes selected by the winners.

The awards aim to spotlight the everyday contributions made by older people—contributions organisers believe too often go unseen.

Nominations can be submitted by emailing ChurchillHeroAwards@crl.co.uk or by completing an online form.

The deadline for submissions is Saturday, June 20.
