The former Prime Minister of Britain has been spotted playing a round of golf at Stoke Park in Stoke Poges.

Liz Truss was captured taking on Conservative Party peer Lord Dominic Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg's son Peter on Bank Holiday Monday (May 4) at the Buckinghamshire country estate.

The sprawling manor, which has featured in films such as Goldfinger (1964), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and Layer Cake (2004), reopened as a golf course and country club in late 2024 following a multi-million pound renovation after being purchased by Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries. A new clubhouse opened ahead of the 2026 season, with green fees starting at £155 per round.

Sharing an update to his 4,800 Instagram followers, Lord Johnson joked: "Donald Trump was not around so we played Liz Truss instead!"

The London-based politician heaped praise on Stoke Park, describing it as "fabulous". He also paid tribute to his playmates, describing them as "delightful Etonian golfers including Peter Rees-Mogg". Ending the post, he teased: "My swing leaves a lot to be desired I'm afraid."

Mrs Truss served as Prime Minister for 49 days - the shortest tenure in British political history - before resigning in October 2022 amid economic turbulence following her government's mini-budget.

Since leaving office, the former MP for South West Norfolk has remained active on the right of British politics, speaking at events including the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in the United States. She is confirmed to speak at CPAC USA 2026 in Texas later this year.

Instagram users were quick to respond to Lord Johnson's short video clip. One wrote: "Worse at golf than running the country which says something."

Another added more positively: "What a great group."

Whilst one simply wrote: "For the first time ever, I'd rather be sat at my desk than out on the golf course."

Lord Dominic Johnson, Baron Johnson of Lainston, CBE, is a British financier, hedge fund manager and politician who co-founded Somerset Capital Management. He served as co-chairman of the Conservative Party from November 2024 until July 2025 and has since called for stricter immigration controls, arguing the issue is key to the Conservative Party's future. He has described himself as a recent convert to golf, writing on social media: "I only just took up golf. What a great sport."

One of Buckinghamshire's most celebrated country estates, Stoke Park has a history dating back centuries and sits within the constituency of Beaconsfield MP Joy Morrissey.

Beloved by filmmakers - most famously as the location of the golf scene between James Bond and Goldfinger - it reopened its doors to members and visitors in late 2024 following an extensive restoration by its owners, Reliance Industries.
