Buckinghamshire Highways is continuing road repairs, resurfacing and safety improvements across the county as part of the council’s rolling £120 million investment in roads.

More than 340 schemes are being delivered this year, with drivers warned that dates can change at short notice due to weather, materials or unforeseen circumstances.

Here is the list of works currently planned.

Carriageway resurfacing

  • Hilcroft Road, Tylers Green: Carriageway surfacing and joint-treatment works are due on Monday, August 10, using a road closure in operation between 7am and 7pm.
  • Mayflower Way, Beaconsfield: Carriageway surfacing works are due to take place from Thursday, August 6, to Friday, August 14, using a road closure in operation between 7am and 7pm.
  • B474 Penn Road, Hazlemere: Carriageway resurfacing works are due to take place from Monday, August 3, to Monday, August 17, using a road closure in operation between 7pm and 7am.
  • New Road, Walters Ash: Carriageway surfacing and joint-treatment works are due to take place from Monday, August 10, to Friday, August 21, using a road closure in operation between 7am and 7pm.
  • Turnfurlong Lane, Aylesbury: Plane-and-patch resurfacing works are due to take place from Monday, August 10, to Wednesday, August 12, using a road closure in operation between 7am and 7pm.
  • Market Place, Chalfont St Peter: Plane-and-patch resurfacing works are due to take place from Monday, August 10, to Saturday, August 15, using a road closure in operation between 8pm and 6am.
  • Windsor Road/Beaconsfield Services, Beaconsfield: Resurfacing works are due to take place from Sunday, August 9, to Monday, August 10, using a road closure in operation between 8pm and 6am.

Microsurfacing headline treatment

  • Grove Road, Beaconsfield: Microsurfacing treatment is due to take place on Wednesday, August 12, using a road closure in operation between 7am and 7pm.
  • Berwick Road, Marlow: Microsurfacing treatment is due to take place from Wednesday, August 12, to Thursday, August 13, using a road closure in operation between 7am and 7pm.
  • Lincoln Park and Estate roads, Amersham: Microsurfacing treatment is due to take place from Monday, August 10, to Tuesday, August 11, using a road closure in operation between 7am and 7pm.

Drainage

  • Chapel Lane, High Wycombe: New drainage and an outfall into a watercourse are due to be installed from Monday, August 10, to Friday, August 28, using a 24-hour road closure. Working hours will be between 7am and 7pm.

Footway structural repairs

  • Thame Road, Haddenham: Footway reconstruction works are due to continue until Wednesday, August 12, using multi-way traffic lights in operation between 9am and 3pm, Monday to Saturday.
  • Wendover Way, Aylesbury: Footway reconstruction works are due to continue until Saturday, August 29, under a lane closure with traffic lights in operation between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Saturday.
  • Cryers Hill Road, Cryers Hill: Footway reconstruction works are due to take place from Wednesday, August 12, to Saturday, September 12, under a lane closure with traffic lights in operation between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Saturday.

Structures

  • Station Road, Stoke Mandeville: Ground investigation work is due to take place from Monday, August 10, to Friday, August 14, using a full road closure between 7am and 7pm. Two-way traffic lights will operate between 7pm and 7am.

Coring investigation works

  • Main Road/Dunton Road, Dunton: Coring investigation works are due to take place from Monday, August 10, to Thursday, August 13, using two-way temporary traffic lights and stop-go traffic management in operation between 8am and 6pm.
  • Lower Icknield Way/Thame Road/Longwick Road, Longwick: Coring investigation works are due to take place from Thursday, August 13, to Friday, August 14, using four-way temporary traffic lights in operation between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Bridge maintenance

  • Marlow Suspension Bridge: Structural maintenance work is continuing until Friday, August 14, with work taking place beneath the bridge on the south-side bearings and the north pier. Parking bays near Higginson Park and Pound Lane Car Park will remain suspended for the duration of the project.
  • A412 Denham Road, Iver: Headwall reconstruction and safety-barrier replacement works are due to take place until Friday, August 28, using a 24-hour lane closure and two-way traffic lights. Working hours will be between 7am and 7pm.

Active travel scheme

  • Turnfurlong Lane and Camborne Avenue, Aylesbury: Works to install a raised crossing, extend the cycleway and add new road markings and signs are due to continue until Friday, August 14. A 24-hour road closure will remain in place on Turnfurlong Lane, while multi-way traffic lights will operate 24 hours a day on Camborne Avenue.
  • Pinewood Road, Iver: Works to install a new Toucan crossing are due to continue until Friday, August 21, using three-way traffic lights operating 24 hours a day. Construction work will take place between 8am and 6pm, while resurfacing closures are planned overnight from August 19 to 21, between 8pm and 6am.

Vehicle restraint systems

  • Ibstone Road, Stokenchurch: Vehicle restraint-system (safety barrier) works are due to take place from Monday, August 10, to Thursday, August 13, using two-way traffic lights in operation between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Streetlighting

  • Countywide: Damaged streetlighting assets are due to be replaced until Wednesday, September 9, with 40 new columns and energy-efficient LED lanterns being installed across Buckinghamshire.
  • Watermead, Aylesbury: End-of-life streetlighting assets are due to be replaced until Friday, August 14, with 71 new columns and energy-efficient LED lanterns being installed in Ayleswater, Bullfinch Gardens, Curlew, Kestrel Way, Lark Vale and connecting footways.

Other works

  • Five Points Roundabout, Iver: Traffic management is in place until March 2027, including lane closures on Uxbridge Road and the inner ring of the roundabout, alongside temporary two-way traffic lights on Wood Lane.
