Police carried out a knife arch operation at a school as part of ongoing efforts to keep pupils safe.

The operation took place at Kingsbrook School on Monday, June 1, with officers PC Crozier, PC Wotke, PC Vendy, and PCSOs Fincher and Moslin in attendance.

Officers used a walk-through metal detector, to check students for prohibited items which they described as a proactive method. 

In a statement on Facebook; "We would like to reassure that no knives were found, and that this is a random method used by Neighbourhood Policing Teams to deter knife-carriers and protect the public."
