A second inquest opening into the death of a 15-year-old girl who was killed in a crash in Beaconsfield is due to take place later on this month.

Lexi Jennifer Catlin was travelling as a pillion passenger on a motorcycle which collided with another vehicle on the A355 Amersham Road on March 13 this year.

Lexi, who lived in Downley just outside of High Wycombe, was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.

Her body was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury.

At the first inquest opening which took place at Beaconsfield Coroner’s Court on April 19, it was revealed that the teenager died as a result of a head injury.

The coroner, Crispin Butler, added that Lexi was identified by a Police Sergeant at the scene of the incident.

The inquest was adjourned, but is set to resume on July 21 at 12.50 pm at the same location.

The teenager sadly died eight days before her 16th birthday, with Ms Catlin due to sit her GCSE exams this summer. 

Floral tributes, balloons, photos and ornaments were left at the side of the A355 following the crash which also involved a white Toyota Yaris and a grey Toyota Hilux.

In a statement, Lexi's family described her as 'kind, caring, funny, and outgoing' with a smile that 'lit up every room'.

They added: "She loved being out with her friends, having fun and making the most of every minute of every day.

"Lexi had so, so much to offer this world, with so many dreams and aspirations that we will now never get to see her fulfil.

"Words cannot express how much Lexi was loved and adored by her family, who miss her so much already.

"We are truly heartbroken, with a massive Lexi-shaped hole in our lives, which will never be the same again."

A private event was held by the family to mark what would have been Lexi's 16th birthday on March 21.

More than £18,000 has been raised for the family through an online GoFundMe page as part of a £22,000 goal to help give Lexi 'the most meaningful send-off she deserves' with 641 people having donated.

Three teenagers, who were arrested following the crash, were released on conditional bail.

The rider of the motorbike, a 16-year-old boy from Beaconsfield, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Two more teenagers, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, both from High Wycombe, who were also riding motorbikes in the vicinity, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
