A date has been set for the inquest of a High Wycombe man who was killed in a devastating car fire.

Paul Nyrvana-Jones, 69, was pronounced dead in the afternoon of December 2, 2025, along Fernie Fields next to Squirrel Lane in the town.

Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said two crews from High Wycombe and one from Marlow attended the scene after a car fire spread to a bush and fence connected to a house on the street.

Thames Valley Police, who also attended the incident, confirmed that Mr Nyrvana-Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.

It has now been revealed that the 69-year-old’s inquest will take place on April 14 at Beaconsfield Coroner’s Court at 2 pm.

It is expected to last for an hour and a half.

Following Mr Nyrvana-Jones’ death, many neighbours reacted to his sad passing, including the homeowner whose house was impacted by the fire.

Speaking to the Free Press at the start of December, he said: “The car went up very quickly.

"I was watering the hedge, not realising what it was, but I knew it was a car fire, but I thought it was an electric car, but it wasn’t.

“I had to basically keep my property doused down as it [the fire] was coming through the hedge and into the shed.

“This is not something you would expect, certainly on your doorstep.”

They continued: “All of the neighbours were up in arms and were worried about it, but there was nothing you could do.

“It wasn’t like a car accident, and this is the first time something like that has happened on Fernie Fields.

“Nothing like has happened before.”

Bucks Fire Rescue added: “Two crews from High Wycombe, one from Marlow, along with two officers attended.

“A car was fully involved in the fire, spreading to a nearby bush and fence.

“The firefighters used two sets of breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet.

“The incident was left in the hands of Thames Valley Police.”

Thames Valley Police then confirmed: "Officers were called to assist Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service at an incident on Squirrel Lane on Tuesday, December 2, at approximately 3.22 pm.

"The man’s death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious.

"His next of kin have been made aware.”
