The designers involved in the redevelopment of the former Ministry of Defence School of Languages in Beaconsfield Old Town have been hailed some of the best in the country.

Everything’s been going well recently for the Hampshire company working on the interior and exterior layout for 184 houses and flats to create a new neighbourhood at Wilton Park.

Not only has Adam Architecture won the 2021 RIBA south west category in the regional awards for the first phase of a development of 4,000 new homes on a separate site in Newquay, they have also made House and Garden magazine’s 2021 Top 100 list of interior designers and architects.

According to Savills, the 100-acre parkland site in Beaconsfield Old Town is one of the most exciting prospects for regeneration in the south of England.

The estimated gross development value at Wilton Park is £288 million.

Outline planning consent for the overall scheme was granted to Inland Homes in 2019.

The company was founded in Amersham in 2005 before it moved to larger offices in Beaconsfield.

It is now one of the UK’s leading specialists in regeneration.

Facilities open for the wider community to use – not just residents of Wilton Park - include a nursery school, sports pitches, a park and a village shop.

Forty six of the homes were previously rented to service families.

Most of the existing houses from the MoD era have since been sold on the open market following refurbishment.

Bewley Homes came on board last year when the developer bought 147 plots from Inland.

This week they’ve bought a further 37 in a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom designs.

The first of the new builds will come on the market in January.

Stephen Wicks, chief executive of Inland Homes, is a local himself. He lives in Beaconsfield – no nimbyism in his house.

He regards Wilton Park as a flagship development for his company. He is happy with the way it has evolved.

“It is without doubt the best site in the south-east of England,” he declared when he announced the arrival of Bewley in June 2020 to provide buyers with a wider choice of architectural styles.

“We had been looking for a developer that shares our vision and has the skill to do it justice,” he told the world.
