Veterans in High Wycombe have marked Armed Forces Day.

Royal Star & Garter, which provides care for former service personnel, held a week of special events across its homes, including High Wycombe, from June 20 to 27.

Highlights at the High Wycombe home included a visit to the Battle of Britain Bunker in Uxbridge.

The site’s new exhibition gallery is named after Kay Thomas, a former Royal Star & Garter resident and WAAF veteran who served as a plotter at the station from 1940 to 1945, including during the Battle of Britain.

The home also welcomed personnel from RAF High Wycombe for a tea party during the week.

Other events included an afternoon ice cream tea party and barbecue.

The Armed Forces Day flag was raised outside each fhome.

Moments from the week included veterans enjoying the events, residents eating ice cream during the celebrations, and trips to the Battle of Britain Bunker.

RAF High Wycombe personnel spent time talking with veterans at the home.

The charity, founded in 1916, offers nursing and dementia care to veterans and their families at homes in High Wycombe, Solihull, Surbiton, and Worthing.

It also runs community services such as day care, lunch clubs, and a national telephone friendship service.

Royal Star & Garter homes maintain and recognise military connections for residents who wish to do so.

The organisation is currently welcoming new residents.
