The site of High Wycombe's former Air Raid Shelter café has been put on the market following its closure earlier last year.

Christie & Co has announced that it has marketed The Bell Inn, on Frogmoor, which was the site of the WW2 themed café until July last year.

The historic pub which dates back to 1785 has been listed for £495,000 and boasts six bedrooms on the first floor, including five with en-suites.

It comes as a new Air Raid Shelter café is set to open its doors at Codmore Pavillion in Chesham next month after owner, Chris Miller, made the decision to relocate.

The vacant Wycombe site has been described as a 'fantastic opportunity for an investor to bring a prominent town centre premises back into use'.

Tim Widdows, Associate Director at Christie & Co, commented, “This is a standout freehold with real potential.

"Its size, location and nearby university and housing make it a great platform for an ambitious buyer to relaunch and build a strong local following."

In the description for the property, it says the pub offers a 'spacious bar' and dining areas, with a 'flexible ground floor layout accommodating around 80 covers'.

It also boasts a large rear function room capable of seating a further 100 guests which is thought to be 'ideal for events and private hire'.

The pub is said to offer potential for a variety of uses on the first floor including boutique guest accommodation, private lettings, or staff housing.

The property stands on the corner of Frogmoor, opposite the Clock House.

In Buckinghamshire Council's Conservation Area appraisal in 2011, it said: "This building is of the 17th century or possibly earlier and has been altered over the years. It is a two storey building with an old tiled roof.

"It has three modern mullion and transom lattice casement windows to the fi rst floor and two on the ground. The whole of the external walls are stuccoed"

The Air Raid Shelter Cage closed its doors on July 27, 2025 after nearly seven years in the town, having opened in November 2018 in the Chilterns Shopping Centre before moving out of the complex.

The Bell sits in a spot that is changing fast, with major regeneration planned around the former Chilterns Shopping Centre and surrounding Frogmoor area.

That wider redevelopment is expected to bring new homes, public realm improvements and more footfall into the town centre.
