Gareth Ainsworth is targeting six wins in the Chairboys' remaining six fixtures to give his team a chance of unlikely survival.

Wycombe Wanderers have found themselves in the relegation places for the majority of the season but belief inside the camp hasn’t been hampered by this.

After back-to-back wins, for the second time this season, over the Easter weekend Wanderers' survival chances have been given a late boost.

Ainsworth, however, is under no illusions of the difficulty of the task admitting that even if the Chairboys pick up maximum points it may still not be enough.

The Wycombe manager said: “Everyone else picked up points so we have just to keep doing what we can and control what we can control.

“We were really pleased we got the points over Easter but we can’t rest on that.

“We want to win all six games, that is our target and anyone that knows me will expect that.

“You never know that might not be enough but we want to give ourselves the best opportunity.

“Winning the six games is something I’ve said to the staff and the boys know that we go into every game we can win it.

“If we win all six games let's see where we are.”

Even if Wycombe are unable to beat the drop Ainsworth has heaped praise on his side who he believes have already surpassed all expectations this season.

Ainsworth continued: “People probably expected us to be the worst team ever in the Championship but we are a mile away from that.

“We are really surprising a lot of people with what we have achieved in the Championship.

“We have opened a few eyes and earned a bit of respect and if we can survive that would be fantastic.”
