A free High Wycombe car park which currently generates no income is set to be marketed in a bid to find a tenant.

Buckinghamshire Council has decided to market Terriers End Car Park, at the junction of Amersham Road and Totteridge Lane, following an appraisal of the authority’s options for the site.

The surface car park contains 24 spaces and is surrounded by a landscaped area.

It is currently free to use and generates no income for the council, according to a published decision notice.

A council decision notice says it is used most heavily by local businesses, although residents and people visiting nearby shops and takeaways also park there.

The authority also said the car park has experienced problems with abandoned vehicles.

The car park was historically licensed to the former Wycombe District Council by Buckinghamshire County Council.

That agreement ended around 2014 when the district council reviewed its parking provision and disposed of car parks which did not generate fees, according to the notice.

An options appraisal has recommended that Buckinghamshire Council seek a tenant for the site.

The published decision notice does not identify any prospective tenants or explain how the site could operate once a tenant is found.

It also does not say whether motorists would continue to be able to park there free of charge.

The decision affects the Terriers and Amersham Hill ward.
